Certified and trained as a Historian and Political Economist, Carlton teaches and conducts research in several departments and disciplines. Most recently, his teaching activities have included courses on global studies, history, political science, American popular culture, and student success leadership.

Dr. Usher was recently awarded a Textbook Transformation Grant from Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG). Consequently, he designed a hallmark textbook-less course to deflect the rising cost of college tuition. To date, he has saved students $450k in book expenses.
